Hi'My name is Alwyn.M.Owens I am an Aboriginal male. This is my first year studying to be a teacher.My Aboriginal clan name is Takalaka from the lower Gulf of Carpentaria a small township call Croydon with a population of 200 people. My current employment is Community Development Officer.I am employed by Oxfam Australia . I focus on keeping the community healthy.For example we just set up project signs for the family to keep alcohol and drugs from entering the family house.This job is a challenge and I enjoy this work trying to provide the best for our people.But first to get these signs, Oxfam got approval from the community and support from other businesses and stakeholder . Then they had to negotiate with the TAFE College to give Oxfam a Quote on how much fifty signs would cost to be made. For a family who want signs it costs them nothing. We attach these signs to their fence or gate to say that in the family house has no drugs or alcohol is allowed.I then give the name of families and the street name to the police,and they patrol these streets.
